Meet Our Team
Although Grendon Cross Care Ltd has only technically been official since January 2020
some of the team have known each other and worked together for 8 years
sharing the same beliefs and goals.
Scope of Service
We offer our clients every chance to be involved in their care from the start when we conduct the initial assessment before an agreement to accept our service is reached by our prospective client. Co-production is an indispensable element of our service, and we strive to give our clients a voice in the way that we care for them.
Within their choice of conversation, our clients are assisted by our well trained and dedicated staff to meet their needs. Communication is a challenge to most of our clients and our patience in the approach helps our clients to build confidence in their communication. Our interventions are based on the Treatment and education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children (TEACHH) approach, and each intervention is specific to needs of the individual receiving our support.

TEACCH
The approach encompasses everything that we do to support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder that are in our care. We do offer training to our staff that is relevant in developing the individuals that we support in any areas they need to progress. We aim to continue to progress ourselves as support staff so that we will maintain a high quality of service for our clients. We strongly believe that every individual has their strengths and weaknesses. We look at our strengths and weaknesses the same way that we look at the strengths and weaknesses of our clients. We maximise our strengths and find every opportunity to mitigate the weaknesses. The approach places emphasis on us to work in conjunction with other professionals, individuals with learning disabilities and their families, and their communities.

PECS – Picture Exchange Communication System
Communication is paramount to meet the needs of our clients. PECS, a system that involves visuals such as widgets representing items or pictures relevant to their needs. The system is essential for clients who have speech impairment and may help some individuals in improving their speech. Staff at Grendon Cross Care are trained in the use of PECS to increase its effectiveness when applied.

Do we respect your time and care your eyes most?
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

Visual Supports
These communication tools are important in providing a structure and routine to the clients with speech impairment. Consistency is achieved through the use of visuals. These can be used on fixed or portable schedule boards to show the individual’s routine. They are personalised to reflect the needs of the client. Timetables may be established using the schedule boards and visuals. There is a whole array of visuals including objects, photos, miniatures of objects, written words, and symbols amongst others. We advocate the use of visuals where relevant to promote independence, improve two-way communication, build clients’ confidence and to encourage clients’ interaction with others. We believe in protecting the rights of the individual and promoting the independence of our clients. We have a unique concept where person-centred approach simply means the client is at the centre of what we offer to the client, a distinct and personalised care.
We promote positive and effective communication. It is our duty to understand what each individual needs to enable them to communicate freely. For example, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), fixed and/or portable schedules, now, and next, visual supports including photos and social stories. Our staff are trained and experienced in understanding different means of communication.

Communication
Stimulating the brain, creating neural pathways, and improving sensory processing systems. We recognise that sensory stimulation is pivotal in the well-being of individuals, this may cause anxieties when the stimulation is either hyper or hypo leading to crises. We seek ways to intervene when sensory stimulation gets in the way of our clients’ well-being. These include low arousal techniques such as massage and environment management including canvas walls, low lights, and relaxing music.

Sensory
Independence is the key to empowering others. Independence gives service users a platform that allows them control over their lives and enables them choice. We believe that independence is vital for promoting high self-esteem and well-being. We aim to make suitable adjustments to accommodate every individual’s uniqueness.

Independent living skills
We are eager and determined to fight for positive change. We promote access to the community in accordance with the needs of the individual service users. We have experienced drivers within the team. Whether this be accessing day centres, days out or just enjoying a walk. We support individuals to access the community with their heads held high and without fear.

Community
We believe that every individual is entitled to learning and enjoying growth with their needs fulfilled. We understand that education placements are not suitable for everyone, and we offer relevant work task sessions tailor-made to suit the individual needs.
